Roberta Fisher started Kidding Around Child Care Center in 2015 with one conviction: families in Middle Tennessee deserved childcare that actually worked with their lives — not against them. Twelve years later, that conviction drives every decision made for this center, from the hours we keep to the food on every child's plate.

Before opening Kidding Around, Roberta competed as a collegiate track athlete — an experience that shaped how she runs this center to this day. Athletics taught her that excellence isn't an accident. It's the result of discipline, consistent preparation, and refusing to quit when things get hard. That same standard applies to the care your child receives here every single day.

Roberta holds a Pre-Law degree and brings that same attention to detail and advocacy instinct into her role as director. When you enroll your child at Kidding Around, she is personally accountable to you — not a corporate office, not a franchise owner. Just her.

What sets Roberta apart from other childcare directors is the depth of her expertise. She has over 12 years operating a licensed Tennessee childcare facility with hands-on knowledge of DHS licensing, compliance, CACFP nutrition programs, and early childhood development. She operates a licensed commercial kitchen, meaning the fresh meals served here meet professional food safety standards — not just good intentions. Her Pre-Law background means every policy, every contract, and every procedure protecting your child is taken seriously.

She's also spent years helping professional athletes and executives navigate major life transitions through her relocation work, which means she understands the stress and emotion that comes with big changes. That empathy extends to every family who walks through our doors — whether you're a night-shift nurse, a first-time parent, or a family brand new to Tennessee.

Roberta believes the years between 6 weeks and 8 years old are the most formative of a person's life, and that most of what a child becomes starts in the environment you choose for them. That's why she built a center that combines rigorous early education, multilingual immersion, real nutrition, and radical inclusivity under one roof. Not because it's trendy. Because children deserve all of it.
